The Nudge

July 13, 20263 min read

In the middle of the night, she heard,"You should buy Focus 3."

She had never acquired a business before.

She already had a successful career.

She and her family had just paid off their home and become debt-free.

She was planning for a next chapter filled with peace and margin.

Then God had different plans.

He gave her a nudge she couldn't ignore—a calling so deep she couldn't shake it.

So what did she do?

She stepped up to the call.

"You convert impulse into action. You don't get swept away by fear or paralyzed by uncertainty. When things are overwhelming (and they will be) you focus on just one disciplined action at a time. Even when the outcome seems a thousand miles away, you take the next step. That's what turns dreams into reality."
The R Factor, p. 70

That's part of the book we're reading right now in ourXYL Summer Book Club.

It's calledThe R Factor: How to Maximize the One Thing You Can Control by Heather Verity.

While the book centers around the framework of how you respond, this passage hit me the hardest.

Because there have been so many moments in my own life when showing up meant simply taking the next step.

One day at a time.
One decision at a time.
One act of obedience at a time.

That's where the magic lies.

What I think

As many of you know, I'm writing a book that's been sitting in my Google Docs for the past three years.

The very first chapter is called"The Nudge."

It's about that quiet voice inside of you that whispers...

What if...

Maybe I could...

If I could really do what I wanted, it would be...

For just a moment, you suspend reality and allow yourself to dream.

Then, almost instantly, your brain pulls you back.

It starts listing every reason why you can't, shouldn't, or aren't qualified.

Not because it's trying to hold you back—but because it's trying to protect you from uncertainty, rejection, and the unknown.

But what if...

What if that nudge is God's invitation into the very purpose He created you for?

What if, on the other side of that nudge, is the fulfillment you've been searching for?

What if it's the beginning of a journey that only you were meant to walk?

That's where courage over comfort comes in.

Because following that nudge will almost never feel comfortable.

But it may be the very first step toward becoming the person God created you to be.

The one degree shift

If you got quiet with yourself for just a moment, what is that small, still voice of pure love and possibility telling you to do?

Stop overthinking.

Start pursuing.

Want to learn more?

That reminds me of the second-ever episode of the Seek the Edge Podcast.

I recorded it in my home with a message that still rings true today.

If you've been feeling that quiet nudge inside of you—the one that keeps whispering,What if?—this episode is for you.

And one more thing...

Don't judge the aesthetics. Sometimes you just have to start before you're ready.
